Harry G. Friedman, Founder of New York’s Jewish Federation, Dead; Was 83

Harry G. Friedman, a prominent Jewish economist, philanthropist and collector of Jewish ceremonial art, died here yesterday at the age of 83. He was one of the last surviving founders of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York and the leading benefactor of the Jewish Museum here. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.

Born in Poland, Mr. Friedman was brought to this country at the age of eight. He was a member of the founding committee of the Federation before it was incorporated in 1917. He was also active in the American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Historical Society, the Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Theological Seminary.
