COLOGNE (Jan. 5)
A.M. Naumann, the investigating judge of the Cologne law court, will go to Israel this month to take testimony from 30 Jewish witnesses for a forthcoming Nazi war crimes trial here, the court announced today.
Judge Naumann will take testimony from January 23 until February 12 as part of the preliminary investigation into charges against two former Gestapo officials charged with participation in wartime mass murders of Jews in the ghetto of Grodno near Bialystok.
A monument to Muelheim Jews murdered by the Nazis was unveiled in ceremonies at the ancient Jewish cemetery of the town this week. The ceremonies were attended by local government officials and representatives of the Central Council of the Jews in Germany.
