NEW YORK (Jan. 27)
Harry I. Barron has been named executive director of the National Foundation for Jewish Culture, it was announced today. He has served as executive director of the Jewish Welfare Federation of New Orleans for the past decade. He succeeds Dr. Judah J. Shapiro, who now serves as a consultant to the foundation.
The foundation was established in 1959 as a result of action taken by the General Assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds. It provides assistance, guidance and support to Jewish agencies and institutions in the field of Jewish culture, initiates and finances projects and advises local communities in Jewish culture.
