Dr. Abraham A. Neuman, president of Dropsie College here for 25 years, and a member of the institution’s faculty for a quarter of a century prior to assuming the presidency, submitted his resignation, it was announced here today by former Justice Horace Stern, chairman of the Dropsie board of governors.
The resignation, said Mr. Stern, is to go into effect at the end of 1966 but, mean-while, Dr. Neuman has been given leave to retire for reasons of health. The board elected Dr. Neuman to the office of honorary president and to life membership on the board.
The board also elected-Sol Satinsky as acting president, to serve until a new head is chaser. Mr. Satinsky, vice-clairman of the Dropsie board, is president of the Jewish Publication Society of America and chairman of the American Jewish History Center. He is also a member of the board of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and is active in numerous other national Jewish organizations. In agreeing to serve as acting president, Mr. Satinsky emphasized that the board plans to select a president of the college before the commencement of the new academic year next fall.
