Israel Minister for Religious Affairs Denounces Birth Control

Dr. Zerah Warhaftig, the Minister for Religious Affairs, denounced today birth control methods which he said were contrary to Jewish religious law. He spoke at the He spoke at the Heichel Shlomo, the Supreme Religious Center.

The Minister particularly assailed a birth control clinic set up by the Israel Birth Control Association. The Association has urged the legalization of medical abortions and conception controls. The Minister said that since the Nazi holocaust which killed 6, 000, 000 European Jews, it was a Jewish family duty to increase the Jewish birth rate.
