The executive board of Tel Aviv University voted here Monday to curtail the institution’s 1966-67 budget by nearly 4, 000, 000 Israeli pounds ($1, 333, 000), below original estimates, fixing the fiscal year’s budget at 20, 000, 000 pounds ($6,667,000).

Hit hardest under the revised budget will be new appointments to the university’s faculty. The number of new students to be admitted will also be reduced. The budget cut came in the wake of the Government’s general tightening of all expenditures. That policy will, among other things, also reduce the subsidies expected to be given by the Government to all institutions of higher learning in Israel.
