Two Jewish Candidates of Liberal Party Elected to Quebec Parliament

Two Jewish candidates from Montreal won seats in the Quebec Provincial Parliament, according to the election results yesterday which gave the conservative National Union Party a 55 to 51-seat victory over the Liberal administration of Premier Lesage. The two Jews who won on the Liberal ticket were Harry Blank, who was reelected, and Victor Goldbloom.

At a press conference last night, Daniel Johnson, leader of the victorious National Union Party, said that his party had received 6 percent less of the popular vote than the Liberal Party, partly because of the “Jewish vote” in Montreal.
