Chief Inspector of New York’s Police Honored by Jewish Congress

The American Jewish Congress tonight honored Sanford D. Garelik, chief inspector of New York’s police, at a dinner attended by 500 guests. Mr. Garelik, who is the first Jew to be appointed chief inspector, heads New York’s 27, 000 uniformed and plainclothes police. He was cited for “outstanding services to the city and nation, his many efforts in behalf of Israel and his concern with perpetuating the Jewish heritage.”
