Knesset Rejects Motion on Visit of U.S. Experts to Dimona Reactor

Parliament rejected tonight an opposition motion for debate on visits by United States Atomic Energy Commission scientists to Israel’s nuclear reactor at Dimona after Prime Minister Levi Eshkol declared there was no inspection and no control by the United States over the Dimona reactor.

The Premier spoke on the motion offered by Yohanan Bader of the Gahal (Herut-Liberal) faction. Mr. Bader asked for discussion on American press reports about annual visits of American experts to the reactor on behalf of the United States Government. The Premier also declared that the visits by the engineers did not impair Israel’s sovereignty and that they were made at the invitation of the Israel Government,
