A group of Hebrew University students proposed today establishment of an Arab-Jewish academic center on Mount Scopus to deal with problems of the Middle East.
They suggested that lectures be given by Arab and Israeli experts in Arabic and Hebrew on issues affecting the two sides. The students said they intended to bring their proposal to the attention of world student organizations and to former President Harry S. Truman’s personal representative, David Noyes, who attended the ground breaking ceremony yesterday for the Truman Center for the Advancement of Peace at the University.
Mount Scopus is an Israeli enclave in Jerusalem under control of the Jordanian Government. Israel regularly sends a convoy to the abandoned Hadassah hospital and Hebrew University on Mount Scopus, under the Israel-Jordan armistice agreement.
