Premier Daniel Johnson of Quebec pledged that his Government will do everything in its power to make the Province’s Jewish community continue to feel at home here. He made the promise in a message of greeting extended to the Jewish community on the occasion of the New Year. It is the first time in a number of years that a Premier of Quebec has issued a personal message on this occasion.

“Quebec’s Jewish citizens have always set an example in good citizenship and community spirit, and have long played a valuable role in the life of our province, ” Premier Johnson said. This fact makes it doubly important that all members of Quebec’s Jewish community, like all citizens who are not of the French culture, continue to feel fully at home in this province. The Quebec Government is a government of all the people and there can be no second-class citizenship in Quebec.” The Premier asked for the support of Jewish citizens in the Government’s task.
