The United Jewish Appeal and the United Israel Appeal, Inc., issued a statement here today clarifying an earlier report on the sources of income of the Keren Hayesod in Jerusalem, issued by Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Keren Hayesod-United Israel Appeal. The UJA-UIA statement declared:

“Funds raised by the UJA in the United States are transferred to the UIA, Inc., an American corporation domiciled at 515 Park Avenue, New York. The UIA, Inc., by its American board of directors, makes allocations for work in Israel and transfers funds to its agent, the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem, to carry out its work. None of the funds of the UJA, through the UIA, Inc., is transferred to the Keren Hayesod.

“During the fiscal year April 1, 1965-March 31, 1966, the UJA transferred to the UIA, Inc., the sum of $37,757,272.89. The UIA, Inc., allocated these funds for use in the fields of immigration, absorption, agricultural settlement, youth care, as well as repayment of debt to American insurance companies.”
