The Jerusalem District Attorney’s office filed today an indictment in connection with the accidental death of sculptor David Palombo who was killed last August 13 when he smashed his scooter into a chain across the road leading to Mount Zion. The chain was set up to prevent traffic on the road during the Sabbath.

The indictment was filed against Rabbi Amram Blau, who is in charge of Mount Zion for the Ministry for Religious Affairs. The indictment accused Rabbi Blau with allegedly causing the sculptor’s death. The defendant has no relationship to the Netura Kartei leader with the same name. The 46-year-old sculptor’s death renewed the argument over the role of religion in the life of Israeli residents.
