Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress said here today that the growth of neo-Nazis in Germany was “not too dangerous.” However, while advising Jews “not to get panicky.” Dr. Goldmann warned them against underestimating developments such as the election successes of the National Democratic Party.
Noting that the Germans were used to and insisted upon strong leadership, Dr. Goldmann said that he viewed the National Democratic Party’s election success “more as an expression of disgust at a weak regime and the politically chaotic situation which has recently prevailed.” He warned, however, that “there are too many old Nazis in the new party’s rank and file” and that the party “uses slogans and methods that remind one of the old Nazi days.”
