The Hebrew University disclosed today that it was lacking 25 percent of funds needed to meet its 1967-68 budget, and might have to curtail activities and dismiss part of its staff.

The shortage of funds was described in a brochure distributed to members of the academic staff. University officials were reported to have informed the Finance Ministry that, unless significant financial support was provided, the university would have to cut its staff and activities. The brochure described the present financial situation as “the most serious in the existence” of the University.
