Bomb Explodes in Synagogue Building in Argentina; Minister Shares Jewish Concern

A synagogue in the summer seaside resort of Mar del Plata was seriously damaged today when a bomb exploded inside the building. No one was injured in the explosion since the synagogue is used only during the summer.

In Avellaneda City, meanwhile, the Catholic diocese was set afire with five Molotov cocktails by vandals who left leaflets declaring: “Death to Judeo-Christian-Marxist integration,” “Paul VI is a traitor” and calling Msgr. Podesta, Bishop of Avellaneda, a “Bolshevik.”

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Guillermo A. Borda today assured the DAIA, the representative organization of Argentine Jewry, that his Ministry shared their concern over recent activities of extremists. In a reply to a letter from the DAIA expressing concern over extremist activities. Mr. Borda said that the Government “will take all steps toward effective social peace.”
