Joseph Curran, president of the National Maritime Union, announced today that if Egypt blockades the Gulf of Akaba, American seamen will boycott all ships bound for Egyptian ports.

The Union asked the International Longshoremen’s Association to join in picketing and refusal to unload any Egyptian ships arriving in American ports. The Union also asked the International Transport Workers Federation, with 6.5 million members in 84 countries to take similar action.
