President of Uruguay Welcomes New Institute for Human Relations

President Oscar Gestido of Uruguay praised today the goals of the newly-created Jewish Uruguayan Institute for Human Relations and the American Jewish Institute when he received a delegation of the two groups.

The delegation presented President Gestido with a special issue of Comentario magazine dedicated to Uruguayan literature. The President emphasized the need in Uruguay of a program for intergroup relations. Vice-President Alberto Parcheco Areco and Minister of Culture Carlos Manini Rios attended a special tribute by more than 100 Uruguayan intellectuals to the periodical.
