The Executive Council of Australian Jewry appealed today to Premier Kosygin of the Soviet Union to halt the continuing charges by the Soviet Union that Israeli armed forces were guilty of “Hitlerite atrocities.”

The Council noted that the Soviet Union “has never published a word of criticism about the Nazi war criminals actively mobilized in Cairo and Damascus in the war against the Jews.” It added that “the Soviet Government has given unstinting support to the Arab states disseminating the crude anti-Semitism of the ‘Protocols of the Elders of Zion.’

The Jewish representative body pointed out that this was not the first time in this century that a major power had accused the Jews of subhuman crimes and said that “the world knows the terrible price the Jewish people have paid for such monstrous accusations.”
