Polish Jews received another warning last night against supporting Israel in the aftermath of the Israeli victory in the June war, it was reported here today from Warsaw.
The renewed warning emerged from a mass meeting last night in Warsaw which marked the 23rd anniversary of the 1944 Warsaw uprising against the German occupiers. The meeting adopted a resolution reiterating a June 19 ultimatum by Communist Party leader Wladyslaw Gomulka to Polish Jews to back the Polish regime’s total support of the defeated Arab countries. In warning the Jews, the Polish Communist leader had said that “Poland will not tolerate a Fifth Column in the country.”
The resolution adopted last night and reported by the Polish Press Agency, declared: “We are in full solidarity with Wladyslaw Gomulka’s speech and accordingly state that a Polish citizen may have only one fatherland, Poland. We also state that we shall not remain indifferent toward people who. in the face of a threat to world peace, hence also to the security of Poland, support the aggressor.”
