Sen, Joseph S. Clark, Pa.Dem., called on the Johnson Administration last night to offer arms to Israel to deter Nasser from a new attack. He told a meeting in Montgomery County that “this is the only honorable course for us, and it is the only sensible course as well. We must not repeat the mistakes of the past and permit Israel’s enemies to force upon her a peace settlement which is only a prelude to the next war.”

The senator declared that “Israel’s security will not be bargained away for a cheap and easy peace. The right to recognition of the State of Israel as a full-fledged member of the world community of nations is not negotiable.”
