Sen, Robert Kennedy, New York Democrat, and Sen. Jacob K. Javits, New York Republican, jointly sponsored a concurrent resolution memorializing the uprising 25 years ago in the Warsaw Ghetto. The same measure was introduced in the House simultaneously by Rep. Emanuel Celler, New York Democrat, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
The resolution would “recognize and acknowledge the world significance of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising as a reaffirmation of the ineradicable determination to fight for freedom from oppression.” Congress would join “in commemorating on April 25 the 25th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising against Nazi occupation forces by the beleaguered and outnumbered Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto.”
