MONTEVIDEO (May. 9)
An exhibit of photographs, documents and relics of the Nazi era organized in connection with the 25th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, has attracted more than 10,000 visitors to the Municipal Hall. The exhibit was opened by Gen. Carlos Bartolome Herrera, the Mayor of Montevideo. It was organized by the World Jewish Congress, the Uruguayan Jewish Committee and the organization of Nazi victims here.
(Addressing an Israel Independence celebration in Rio de Janeiro last night, Menahem Beigin, Minister Without Portfolio in the Israel Government denied assertions by Polish Government officials that the Poles had helped the Jews during the Nazi occupation of the country. He said the contrary was true.)
