Curfews were lifted in the twin towns of Ramallah and El Byrah today but were imposed in Nablus and Jenin where anti-Israel demonstrations by high school students and adults broke out anew. In Jenin, high school boys and girls staged two separate rallies. Cries were heard denouncing King Hussein of Jordan as a “traitor” and supporting El Fatah, terrorist organization based in Jordan. In Nablus, adults led some 3,000 school boys and girls through the streets shouting slogans until they were dispersed.
The Ramallah-El Byrah curfews were lifted following a visit there yesterday by Defense Minister Moshe Dayan who met with the mayor and local civic leaders. They reportedly promised to work harder to keep public order and control unruly elements.
