Angry voices were raised here today in reaction to the bombing of the Hebrew University cafeteria. Nathaniel L. Goldstein, president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, called it “an act of desperate and horrible criminalism that endangered the lives of innocent students and civilians.” Sam Rothberg, chairman of the university’s board of governors, said he “hoped the international community and especially the academic centers throughout the world would join him” in condemning the act. Mr. Goldstein, a former attorney general of New York State, said “What is particularly shocking in this situation is the fact that the Hebrew University, which is famous for its nonsectarian character, has opened its gates to students of all nationalities, races and religions in its effort to promote peaceful relations among all people, especially between Jews and Arabs.”
