Israeli and Arab forces battled again today along the Israel-Jordan demarcation line and across the Suez Canal. The only Israeli casualties reported were one soldier slightly wounded when a border patrol was attacked south of Nablus last night and a border policeman injured in an exchange of fire in the Beisan area early this morning.
An Egyptian military spokesman said today on Cairo Radio that Egyptian and Israeli gunners fought a five hour artillery duel across the northern end of the Suez Canal this morning. Israeli spokesmen however reported only sporadic artillery and machine-gun fire from the Egyptian side last night and this morning and said there was no concentration of fire at any point.
About 30 mortar shells were fired from Jordanian territory last night at Nahal Tzofar, a paramilitary settlement in the Araba region south of the Dead Sea. A military spokesman said no casualties or damage were caused by the 60 millimeter shells. He did not say whether the attack came from guerrillas or Jordanian regulars.
