The first new settlement of the Jewish New Year was established yesterday on a 1,000 acre tract in the Eshkol region near the Gaza Strip, the Jewish Agency’s settlement department announced. The settlement, named Moshav Besor Bet, is a small holders colony divided into 50 family farm units on land made arable by the Jewish National Fund. The inhabitants are the offspring of moshav members who established their community following Israel’s War for Independence in 1948.
