Nehama Lifschitz, the Russian-Jewish folk singer who became an Israeli citizen earlier this year, will make her American concert debut at the New York Philharmonic Hall on Oct. 5. Her performance, which is expected to be attended by Premier Golda Meir and Israel’s Ambassador, Yitzhak Rabin, will be the start of a two month concert tour that will take Miss Lifschitz to 17 major cities in the U.S. and Canada. The Lithuanian-born singer who has been likened to the late French songstress, Edith Piaf, was regarded as the Soviet Union’s outstanding Jewish concert artist. Last March she and her family were granted permission to emigrate and settled in Israel.
