JERUSALEM (Dec. 9)
The 50th anniversary convention of the Histadrut, Israel’s Labor Federation, was opened here tonight at Convention Hall. President Zalman Shazar told the opening session that the federation should give consideration to the question of whether its mass character did not endanger the quality of its membership. Also attending were Premier Golda Meir and many visitors representing trade unions other countries. The more than 1,000 delegates will continue working sessions of the convention in Tel Aviv tomorrow. Among the foreign guests was Heinz Better, chairman of the West German Trade Union Movement. He arrived by air today for a two-day stay in the country.
