The Knesset finance committee called on the government today to speed up the construction of bomb-proof shelters and security bunkers in the border areas and public shelters throughout the country. The committee proposed a special tax for the purpose if sufficient funds are not available in the budget. The committee also recorded its approval of the substitution of local armament production for imported arms and praised the continuing progress that is taking place in local arms research and development.
