Israeli Ambassador Yosef Tekoah today advised the president of the Security Council, Dr. Guillermo Sevilla-Sacasa of Nicaragua, that Jordanian guerrillas had committed 114 aggressive acts against Israel from July 7 through today. These “incessant cease-fire violations” have once again “compelled Israel to act in self-defense, Mr. Tekoah wrote in his letter to the Council president. The ambassador noted that on July 7 the Jordanian government signed a pact with the guerrillas, promising them “close coordination” and “freedom of action.” He said the pact was “obviously designed to serve as a smokescreen to conceal Jordan’s heavy responsibility for the continued bloodshed and suffering on both sides.”
