Bishop Pike’s Widow Enrolls at Hebrew U., Plans Regular Visits to Israel

Mrs. Diane Pike, widow of former Bishop James Pike who died in the Judacan desert last year has enrolled at the Hebrew University to study Hebrew. Mrs. Pike said she wanted to learn the language of Israel because she intends to bring a number of Americans here on a regular basis under the auspices of the Bishop Pike Foundation. Mrs. Pike whose home is in Bakersfield, Calif., said she was continuing her late husband’s research in Israel for a book on the historical Jesus. It was in the course of that research in the wilderness near the Dead Sea that the former Episcopal Bishop of California, died of heat exhaustion while his wife sought help. Mrs. Pike said she intended to complete the book which is to be published in the U.S. by the Doubleday Co.
