Dolf Elsner, a 67-year-old Polish Jewish engineer from Biclsk, has been awarded the Berlin Medal given to Poles who participated in the battle for Berlin at the end of World War II. He is the only Jew to appear on the honors list. Mr. Elsner was born in 1903 and was imprisoned in Russia in 1939 following the collapse of Poland. He was released from jail in 1944 and was permitted to join the Polish emigre army under Gen. Anders. He is presently chairman of his local branch of the Jewish Social and Cultural Association and holds several other war decorations.
