The Latin American Jewish Congress has announced that its 1970 “Human Rights Award” will go to Father Benjamin Nunez, the Costa Rican Ambassador to Israel, in acknowledgment of his “sensitivity to Jewish problems, particularly those concerning Soviet Jewry.” Father Nunez said recently that Soviet Jews “are not killed but are condemned not to live, which is more cruel than death itself.”
