The first of a series of meeting to protest Soviet treatment of its Jews will take place here Tuesday, when Rabbi Gunther Plaut of Toronto will deliver an address on the plight of Soviet Jewry, it was announced here today by Mr. Saul Hayes, Queen’s Counsel and Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Jewish Congress. The meetings are under the auspices of the Canadian Jewish Congress which is officially protesting the trial of Soviet Jews. “There are grave indications that a fresh cycle of ‘show trials’ of Jews charged with alleged crimes is underway.” said Mr. Hayes.
