Four Jewish students chained themselves today to the Soviet training ship Dzerdzinsky, which is on an official visit to the French harbor of Le Harve. The students, who carried posters calling for the right of emigration for Russia’s Jews, were cut loose by the police. Yesterday, a number of young Jews locked themselves inside an iron cage in front of the vessel to symbolically demonstrate the plight of Soviet Jewry. The incident took place as the Soviet Ambassador to France, Valerian Zorin, came to visit the ship. A half dozen of the youths were arrested but were released during the night.
