A bill introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives to extend daylight saving time throughout the entire year, was dropped by its sponsor, Representative Harold A. Katz, after the Chicago chapter of Agudath Israel of America brought to the attention of the sponsors that this measure would create religious difficulties for Orthodox Jews, the organization reported. A similar bill, introduced in the New York State Legislature by State Senator Roy Goodman, was dropped last month through the intervention of the national Agudath Israel.
