A statement on the Middle East drafted by the six member nations of the European Common Market in Paris May 13 was criticised yesterday by Arieh Eliav, former secretary general of the Israel Labor Party, addressing the conference of Socialist parties of the European Economic Community here. The document, which called for Israel’s withdrawal to its pre-June, 1967 borders was described by Eliav as “unbalanced.” He said he hoped the resolution of the Council of the Socialist International, adopted at Helsinki, would serve as a guideline for the Socialist parties of the ECC on the Mideast.
