Another strike, the second in two weeks, shut down Ashdod port this morning when customs officers walked off their jobs in protest against the Government’s refusal to meet their wage demands. Negotiations were underway for a speedy end to the strike which has tied up Israel’s second largest port. Last month’s strike lasted little more than a day. This morning customs officers refused to open storages halting the movement of cargo.
