NEW YORK (Sep. 7)
The American Jewish Congress announced it has accepted a State Department offer of a meeting to discuss Voice of America broadcasts in Yiddish to Soviet Jews. The meeting will take place Sept. 14 at the State Department and will include VOA officials, the AJCongress announced. Representatives of the American Jewish Congress on Soviet Jewry are also expected to attend.
The offer “to discuss the issue in more detail” was made by a State Department official to Will Maslow, executive director of the AJCongress, in response to a letter Maslow sent President Nixon asking him to approve such broadcasts.
