Howard Samuels, president of the city’s Off Track Betting Corp., stated Sunday that American Jews face dangers because of this country’s failure to solve its urban problems. Speaking at a luncheon meeting of the New York chapter of the American Jewish Committee, Samuels said “this danger is a danger to all Americans…but it is a particular danger to us as Jews.” Samuels noted that examples of fear and hatred are growing throughout the nation and warned that “you and I know it can also flourish in our Jewish communities.”
