Dardo Cuneo, who was press secretary to the former President Arturo Frondizi, and currently president of the Argentine Writers Association, stated that rampant nationalism coupled with anti-Semitism “is one of the visible forms of colonial mentality and stagnation.” Speaking at the monthly luncheon meeting of the Delegacion de Associaciones Israelitas Argentinas (DAIA), the central body of Argentine Jewry, Cuneo said that the “recent offensive of (anti-Israel) ads” placed in Argentine papers by the Arab League was clearly “racist” and would lead to racial discrimination in Argentina if not halted in time. Many intellectual and political figures, including former President Frondizi, attended the luncheon.
