“I will take my truth with me to Washington,” Premier Golda Meir declared Friday night in an address to the Labor Party’s Central Committee in which she charged that American delay on Phantom jet sales to Israel was encouraging Egypt to make war. Already, she stated, the hopes for an interim agreement reopening the Suez Canal have “collapsed” as a result of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s recent war threats. Mrs. Meir also scored “outside forces who are interested in spreading the rumors that Israel is disintegrating, that Israel is falling apart and that Israel is divided.” This was an apparent reference to US Secretary of State William P. Rogers reported remark last Thursday to a group of Senators that Israel’s society was collapsing.
