A high-level committee representing both the government and the tourism industry has been set up to find ways of improving service to visitors. The committee was established in the wake of numerous complaints to the Tourism Ministry from dissatisfied visitors. This is the first time that representatives of all the major factors in Israeli tourism have joined formally to recommend improvements from the moment the tourist buys his ticket until he leaves the country. The committee members are Yacov Zueriel, Deputy Director of the Tourism Ministry, chairman; Yekutiel Federman, president of the Israel Hotel Association; Salo Scharf, president of the Tourist Agents Association, and Yermiahu Schrem, vice president of El Al airlines.
