Funeral services were held in Herzliya today for Shlomo Grodzenski, a Hebrew writer, essayist and critic, and active in the Labor Zionist Movement, who died yesterday at the age of 67. Grodzenski was born in Lithuania and came to the United States in 1916. For 20 years he served as editor of the Poale Zion weekly, “Yiddisher Kempfer,” and upon settling in Israel in 1951 assumed the editorship of several newspapers.
When the American Jewish Committee established in Israel its Hebrew monthly “Amot,” Grodzenski was named its editor. He was also a member of the editorial staff of “Davar,” the Histadrut daily. Grodzenski was regarded as one of Israel’s leading intellectuals and a serious critic and analyst in the fields of politics and literature.
