An Israeli economic mission completed visits to Norway and Denmark last week to ascertain the effects on Israeli trade of those countries’ impending membership in the European Common Market. The mission, headed by Shimon Amir, deputy director general of Israel’s Foreign Ministry, met with senior officials of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Trade. The latter expressed “understanding” of Israel’s problems with the EEC and promised to work within the organization’s framework for fairer treatment of Israel. They did not promise to support Israel’s demand for admission to the EEC. Imports from Israel account for about 1,5 percent of the combined imports of the present six Common Market countries.
