Brooklyn College and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem have joined hands to sponsor a Summer Institute allowing students the opportunity to earn up to nine credits while studying in Israel. Scheduled for July and August, the Summer Institute is the second annual cooperative venture between Hebrew University and Brooklyn College. It will focus on “Land and Cultures of Israel,” a four-credit, interdisciplinary social science course that will utilize organized tours as an integral part of the requirements.
Besides this course, students may enroll in Judaic Studies 83.1 (Research, 3 credits) or Judaic Studies 88.1 (Independent Studies, 3 credits) or in one or two of 16 courses being offered, in English, during the August summer session at The Hebrew University. The students will stay in the new, modern dormitories at Mt, Scopus.
Participation in the program is limited to Brooklyn College students and a small number of students from other City University institutions. Students who satisfactorily complete the Institute’s course will receive three to four undergraduate credits from Brooklyn College and two to five credits from The Hebrew University. These credits may be transferable by prior arrangement to the department or institution of his choice. Some scholarships for needy students are available through the Brooklyn College Fund’s Donald E. Peiser Grant Fund.
