Bar Ilan University became the second major Israeli institution of higher learning to adopt an austerity budget for the coming year. The Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovoth adopted an austerity budget last week. The Bar Ilan financial committee has recommended a $12.6 million budget which reflects a severe pruning of departmental and administrative expenses. While the budget is up $3.1 million from last year, the increase reflects higher prices and natural growth.
