NEW YORK (May. 22)
The North American Jewish Students’ Network announced today that it will hold its third annual convention from June 9-11 at Camp Moshava in Indian Orchard, Pa. The organization describes itself as the “umbrella and service organization for every Jewish student group in North America.” It provides a communications link between the groups and organizes conferences on a regional basis.
The announcement said that 250 students are expected to attend the convention representing the entire spectrum of the Jewish student movement in the US and Canada. The program will deal with the future of the movement including the 60 Jewish student newspapers which are its voice in the community. For over a year the Jewish Telegraphic Agency has been supplying the Students’ Network with its daily and weekly publications for dissemination through the student newspapers.
The announcement said that the convention would stress the issues facing the Jewish student movement and the Jewish community at large, particularly the alleged “neglect” of Jewish community needs by the established Jewish organizations.
