Premier Golda Meir of Israel, attending a meeting of the Socialist International in Vienna this week, said on a Dutch television interview last night that the projected European Security Conference “cannot bring about a solution to the Middle East conflict.”
Mrs. Meir insisted that the Middle Eastern countries must work out their problems by themselves. She observed that many of the countries that would attend such a conference, ardently sought by the Soviet Union, have no contact with Israel and some even supply arms to Egypt. Replying to a question, Mrs. Meir denied emphatically that she had any contacts with Soviet diplomats during or after her visit to Finland last year.
